Frequently Asked Questions

Assessment

  • A: The process typically includes:

    1. Initial consultation with caregivers (and the client, if appropriate)

    2. Review of history and relevant documents

    3. Standardized testing sessions

    4. Feedback session with results and personalized recommendations

    5. A comprehensive written report

  • Assessment timelines vary, but typically involve 2–4 sessions over a few weeks, plus time for scoring, interpretation, and report writing. Following the completing of the final testing session and the completion of all remaining questionnaires of parties involved (self-report, teacher-report, and parent-report), preparations will be made to complete your psychological assessment report. Please expect to wait approximately 20 business days.

Therapy and Intervention

  • I use evidence-based approaches, including:

    • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

    • DBT-informed (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

    • EFT (Emotion-Focused Therapy)

Therapy is tailored to each client’s needs and developmental stage, and incorporates creative, sensory, or visual supports where helpful.

  • Absolutely. I use a neurodiversity-affirming approach and adapt therapeutic tools, communication styles, and pacing to support engagement, understanding, and comfort. Sessions are collaborative, validating, and flexible.

  • It’s not uncommon for children or teens to feel unsure or resistant about therapy. I take a gentle, client-centered approach, working with caregivers to understand the source of their reluctance and to reduce pressure. The goal is to build trust gradually and ensure the young person feels safe, respected, and in control of their involvement. I can work with you to just start with getting your loved one’s foot in the door.
